Fitting the 24v Cosworth engine into a 2.9 XR4X4
The Oil Pump
Once all this work is complete its time to consider the oil pump, check it
(as per manual) before assembling (the oil pressure relies on this valve). Place
an appropriate size washer under the spring of 1/16 inch thickness (not too
thick) then assemble (this will increases the oil pressure slightly, mine runs
35 psi tickover/60 psi at 4000 rpm and this is OK)
Now remove the oil pickup pipe and baffle plate from your old engine and fit
to the 24v engine before fitting the sump. All that remains is to fit the drain
pipes from the cam box to your modified sump. Before fitting the 24v engine
carefully remove the old EFI loom(start from the engine multi plug and work back
to the bulk head, then from inside the car pass the ECU plug through the bung).
Now your 24v engine is ready to fit.
