Fitting the 24v Cosworth engine into a 2.9 XR4X4
All wired up
The next step is getting the wires all connected up, I have added a picture
below showing the positions of the sensors etc.
1. The EDIS amplifier unit
2. Mass Air Flow sensor
3. Exhaust Gas Transducer
4. Power steering reservoir
5. EDIS coil pack
6. Oil/ debris collector box
7. Air Flow Meter
8. Air Filter
I would suggest that the wiring has the potential to be rather difficult,
but would be quite easy for some one with electrical aptitude - hence my giving
you diagram, a schematic that does not rely on the colours as they are not all the same.
I personally found the schematic to be of the most use. By testing with a
multi meter each end of the loom and double checking the connections to the
Sierra I was lucky, as my Sierra is a 91 and on this late model there is a set
of multi plugs behind the battery and there all my connects and splicing was
done. Always solder any joints here and use shrink tube to insulate; a little
time here can save you a breakdown later.
I will add the revcounter later but this should get you going for now
I have been known to mod a granada loom for use in the sierra and have completed several for around £150, also i can ajust the sierra dials and fit the 24v revcounter, included in the price, this takes the one problem you may have out of this conversion. also worth noting is that when i do a loom i shorten it to around 2ft or so and all the units fit next to the battery, thus saving you time threading it through and it is also very tidy. please use the e-mail link to enquire...
while i was surfing one night i found a company called JAYCAR, they are in australia and they sell electronic components. one of wich you might like to fit! why i mention this now is its easey to add in at this point.
basicly the kit is for an air/fuel mix meter,in the tuning shops these cost around £100 up each but i built two kits for less than half that, and believe me they are easey to build, and work very well.
now i can see at a glimpse if i am running lean, rich or just right!!
